A bruise is a break in the skin where a contusion forms. The contusion is the reddish-black scab that is a sign of clotting blood. Many times, we wish for the fast recovery of the bruise for several reasons. One might be that the bruise looks ugly or we might wish to have a speedy recovery from the pain. Whatever it is, we need to use the right method to speed up the recovery process.
Contusion home remedies
When you hit against a sharp, solid surface, you notice a blackish-bluish mark on your hand or leg. This is called a contusion. This injury crushes the blood vessels under the skin and the blood leaks to the nearby tissues under the skin. This becomes the black mark on the skin. This may also be purple, green, or black. Left to its own course, this injury will heal within 12-13 days. You can get rid of the mark by doing some home treatment.

Epsom salt baths
If you have muscle cramps in addition to the wound, then you should try the Epsom bath. The Epsom salt bath helps to relieve the soreness in the muscles and relaxes them. Soaking in the bath water containing Epsom salt will help you become relieved. If the soreness does not go away, have a bath for three or four days. You have to treat the injuries immediately. Only then you get the full benefit of the treatment.
Cayenne pepper and Vaseline
Mix one part of cayenne pepper in five parts of Vaseline. Cover the bruise with this and leave it for a few hours. This will help the wound to heal fast.
Lavender oil has the property of helping the swelling to subside. Take some warm water and put a few drops of Lavandula angustifolia oil in it. Use a soft cloth to apply the oil and water mixture to the wound.
Tea bags, Lard and Vanilla
- Soak a few chamomile flower tea bags in warm water and apply these to the wound. This will reduce the swelling fast.
- Take two teaspoons of lard. Mix one teaspoon of salt. Apply this on the wound and watch the bruise disappear magically.
- Apply some vanilla to the bruise. Wait for ten minutes and then apply a hot compress with a soft cloth.
Mullein flowers and Elevation
- Steep some mullein flowers in olive oil. Leave for 10 minutes and cool the oil. Then, apply this on the bruise.
- This is needed if you are injured in the leg or hand, and the swelling does not decrease. Raise the foot or hand and rest in on a cushion. Keep the wound dressed lightly.
This will reduce the amount of fluids accumulating the affected area. This will also give you some relief from the pain. Use an elastic bandage to achieve the compression. Wrap it around the arm or leg where you wish to stop the fluid accumulation. The pressure will keep the fluids away. Remove the bandage when you go to sleep.
Apple cider vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is an effective method for tackling the problem of swollen bruises (contusion). Along with alkalising properties, it has anti-inflammatory properties that help to heal the wound fast. It also has potassium, calcium, and many other essential minerals that help heal the wound and reduce the swelling. Mix one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in two cups of water. Warm this mixture slightly so that it is bearably hot. Soak any cloth in this water and wipe the bruise.

This is a potent preparation used to cure many ailments. You can use this for injuries too. In this, you boil sugarcane juice, turmeric powder, ginger juice, almond or coconut milk, and water. Castor oil pack

Turmeric and Aloe Vera
