Holarrhena antidysenterica is a deciduous shrub which grows up to 3 meters in height. It has opposite, ovate, elliptic, oblong leaves that are 10 cm long and 10-14 pairs. It has branched stem.

The white, fragrant flowers have five petals with corymb-lime cymes. Sepals accumulate. They are 2-3 cm in length. Fruits are paired and cylindrical with light brown seeds. Flowers from April to July.

Fruits come in August-October. Seeds are narrowly linearly oblong and glabrous.
